Car Seat Safety Checks
Yardley Makefield Emergency Unit is proud to offer free car seat safety checks to families in our community. A correctly installed car seat is one of the most effective ways to protect your child in the event of a crash — yet studies show that the majority of car seats are used incorrectly. Our certified team is here to ensure your child is riding as safely as possible.
Is Your Car Seat Installed Correctly?
Car seat installation can be more complex than it looks. Factors like seat angle, harness tightness, chest clip placement, and vehicle compatibility all play a role in your child’s protection. Even if your seat feels secure, a certified technician can identify issues that are easy to miss.
Whether you have a newborn in a rear-facing infant seat or a toddler transitioning to a booster, we’re here to help.
What to Expect
When you arrive, one of our certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPSTs) will:
- Inspect your car seat for recalls, expiration dates, and damage
- Confirm the seat is appropriate for your child’s age, height, and weight
- Check the installation in your specific vehicle
- Adjust the harness fit and positioning as needed
- Walk you through the process so you feel confident doing it on your own
Appointments typically take 20–30 minutes. We encourage you to bring your child along for the best possible fit.
